Faculty and staff have been asking for a new email system. A university-wide task force was formed to look at email and determine if there were financial savings to be had by moving away from Lotus. The task force recommended that the UNO, UNL, UNK, and UNCA move to a "cloud-based" email solution while UNMC kept an "on-premise" solution. IT departments at each of the campus worked together to create an RFP, evaluate products, and select Microsoft Office 365 as the "cloud-based" solution and Microsoft Exchange 2010 for the "on-premise" solution at UNMC.
